Principal Ellis at the construction site main entrance to new Legacy Traditional School – North Valley campus

Getting to know … Principal Tom Ellis

First of all, allow me to say that I am very proud to be the principal of this great school. I would like to take this opportunity to share a few things about me, so that we may become better acquainted.

I was born and raised in San Diego due to my father being stationed there as a naval aviator during the Vietnam War. After chasing him around the country for many years, I decided to join the Air Force. I enlisted at the age of eighteen, realized a few years later that I needed to go to college, and finished my BA at San Diego State University in the AFROTC program. Upon re-entering the Air Force as a commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, I then served as a Medical Service Corps Officer during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

My next career in the restaurant service industry lasted a decade when I then decided to become a teacher. Legacy Traditional School – Tucson gave me my first chance with my own classroom, where I sincerely had a great time teaching 4th grade. Having being recognized there for my dedication and hard work for the school, I was promoted to Assistant Principal.

Soon thereafter the leadership of Legacy Traditional School notified me they were planning on starting a new campus in Las Vegas. Never shying away from a challenge, I accepted the position as Principal for Legacy Traditional School – North Valley. I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of enrollment, teacher/staff hiring, and finally shifting to operations of starting a new school.

When you see me on campus, please stop me and introduce yourself, I would love to meet and start building relationships with all the parents/guardians of our students.
